Rant about Facebook

Warning: Some strong language below, not that I really give a fuck though.

I have had it up to the fuckin TEETH with people misunderstanding, misinterpreting and misquoting me on Facebook. ONLY on Facebook this ever happens. I have never had a problem with anybody on Twitter or Instagram or YouTube, or the other social media that I use.

facebook-sucksI think it just goes to show what type of people are on Facebook, with their zero attention spans and not reading things properly and making pointless drama out of NOTHING — makes me wonder whether most Facebook users’ IQs are actually lower than people who use more “intelligent” social media options. I think a good comparison to use here would be people who read The Sun (unedcuated, lower or middle working class, narrow-minded) and people who read the Huffington Post (educated, middle or upper working class, open-minded). No, I´m not calling anyone “stupid”. Stupid to me is not an IQ thing. Stupid is when you are a crappy, non-compassionate, non-decent human being, but that is another topic completely. Right now I’m talking about the pointless drama and wasting energy and time on people causing said drama on Facebook.

Getting back to other social media, the amount of times I have heard “I don’t understand Twitter”…  WTF! There’s nothing TO understand! You are just a lazy sod too set in your ways to try and learn new things. For the record, Twitter is extremely easy to learn, it certainly is much simpler than Facebook. Just saying. I am not asking anyone to join me on Twitter – please spare me, and stay on Facebook and continue your drama there without me!

The only reason why I still have a Facebook account is because I am the administrator of various business pages, which is part of my job as a web designer. If not for that, I would long ago have deleted my account — which is what I did with my previous account. I also run a few cat related groups that I’m very fond of, and you’ll still see me in those, but I won’t comment or post much in those anymore either now.

FB get a life

I will not get into ANY MORE pointless arguments or discussions on Facebook, and will not leave any comments or give helpful advice where it´s not asked for (or even if it’s asked for — go, piss off and learn how to Google or pay me for the advice).

I know I have said all this 2 or 3 times before over the last few years, but enough is enough and I’m SICK of it, and unlike most people, I do learn from my past mistakes, so bye-bye Facebook and good riddance.

The Mad Cat Lady & Cats on TV!

Back in March, Doghouse Media came over to film me and my “husbands” Lugosi and Spider for a documentary they were doing for Channel 5 (a major UK TV channel), called “90 Cats and Counting: Cat Crazies”.  This was on TV on 1st July, and here´s the segment that we star in…. ENJOY! :)

Wonderful Cat Art of my 3 Rascals by Thomas Baden-Riess

Thomas Baden-Riess, who drew this wonderful pawtrait of Ruby, Lugosi & Spider for me, is a pencil artist and author. He is available for commission of pencil portraits of pets and loved ones. He also produces more elaborate works of art, and his books are available on Amazon.

Click here to check out his works of art on his website, or to make a commission. You can also follow Thomas on Facebook and subscribe to his YouTube Channel.

Thanks you so much, Thomas.  This is really beautiful and I adore the drawing!  I have already framed it, but still need to find the purrfect place to hang it.

Lugosi: “Hmmm. He didn´t quite catch me in the best light!”  Barbarella: “Well, at least *I* love it!”.

Empty the Tanks – Protest Against New Dolphinarium at Rancho Texas Lanzarote

Lending our voices to the worldwide protests today against imprisoning dolphins and other cetaceans in water-filled concrete bunkers, like the one that Rancho Texas Park (which is a small local zoo) are building right now in Lanzarote.

I was disappointed though at the lack of actual *voices* making themselves heard.  Having looked at some of the other protests around the world today, there was a lot more noise being made to tell people what we are about and what we are protesting against.

Here in Lanzarote, people were just standing there, too busy chatting to each other, and appearing to expect passers-by to automatically know what our protest was about by seeing our posters. There were no chants or handing out flyers to educate tourists entering the zoo to let them know what we were actually doing there, and I feel the organiser was worrying more about us getting chucked out of the car park (which is a risk you take at any protest!) , than actually wanting to make an impact and get seen and heard. Talking to the press is, of course, all good and well, but a group of people just standing there looking cute is, in my opinion, rather pointless and I feel that we made little, if any, impact at all.

Yes, I know, there´s always a lot more “politics” to it all, but still, I can´t help express my disappointment – and that´s just a small part of what my blog is for: expressing my opinion! :)

Anyway, here are my photos and video.

More TV Shoot Pics of Me and the Boys

I was just emailed some gorgeous photos one of the TV guys took on Tuesday of me with Lugosi & Spider – photography credit goes to Paul Fletcher of ReadyReady Productions.

TV Shoot with the Cats Today

After the airline losing the TV team´s camera equipment on Sunday, they finally managed to get a replacement camera sent over this morning, and we did all the filming that was supposed to be done in two days, in ONE day alone, today…. as you can imagine, after 8 hours almost non-stop filming and being on my feet for this, I am totally shattered now – but… it all went well! :)

Lugosi wasn´t too impressed being carted off to my friend Anneke´s house for the “renewal of vows” ceremony, but he still did admirably well, whereas Spider was really good and seemed to quite enjoy all the attention, even though he appeared just slightly nervous.

The film itself will be aired in about 2 months´ time on the UK´s Channel 5, but I´ll post here to let you all know when it will be on when I have the details, and/or post a link to where you can watch it online.

Thanks again to my friends Bernie and Lori for attending as guests, and Anneke for loaning us her beautiful patio for location shooting. And not to forget Sian, Paul and Mark from Doghouse Media, who were fantastic and such great fun to work with! :)

Lugosi wasn´t too happy, but he still did amirably well!

Lugosi: “I think I can escape when she´s not looking…”

Kissies for the boys! :)
